Terms of use
The terms that apply when you use Curatorbook: what it keeps and prints, legal documents and decisions that stay yours, keeping your catalogue file, and refunds.
What this is
Curatorbook is a record keeping aid for the registrar of a small museum or historical society. It keeps the accessions, objects, receipts, loans and deaccession records you enter, suggests and checks numbers, and prints registers, labels and documents from them. It does not check that anything you entered is right, and it is not legal advice.
Legal documents and decisions
Curatorbook keeps records; it is not legal advice. It ships no deed of gift or other legal form, and it does not certify that your procedures meet any published standard. Transfers of title, loan agreements, deaccession decisions and the wording of any terms you print on a receipt are for your board and your legal advisers. A deaccession record here records a decision; it is not the authority for one. Procedure names are our own paraphrases of published guidance, and nothing here claims that your records meet a published standard. Curatorbook is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any museum, association, standards body or software vendor, including the Collections Trust (Spectrum), the American Alliance of Museums, the American Association for State and Local History, the National Park Service, PastPerfect, CatalogIt, MUSARCH, CollectiveAccess and Omeka.
Your records
Everything the site keeps is stored by your own browser on your own computer. It can be cleared by you, and by some browsers on their own, at any time; it cannot be recovered by us, and it does not follow you to another computer. Save the catalogue file after every session and keep copies elsewhere.
What is free
Up to 100 objects with their accessions, the accession register and labels, incoming receipts, the condition report form, deaccession records, the numbering checks, every guide, and saving and restoring the catalogue file are free to use with no account and stay that way. When billing is enabled, a paid tier sits on top of that and adds room and more records and prints. Nothing that gets your own records out is moved behind a payment.
Refunds
Not happy with a purchase? Email socialreminderinfo@gmail.com within 14 days of a first purchase, or within 7 days of a renewal, and we will refund it. Send the message from the email address you used at checkout, and include:
- the email address used at checkout (if you are writing from a different address)
- your access code, shown on the Premium page on the browser you purchased from
- roughly when you purchased, and which plan (yearly or lifetime)
- the last 4 digits of the card, if you have the receipt handy
That is everything needed to find the purchase and process the refund. This policy does not limit any statutory rights you may have.
Acceptable use
Use the site to keep your collection's records and print its registers and labels. Do not scrape it at a rate that degrades it for other people.
Warranty and liability
The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, Curatorbook is not liable for any loss arising from the use of the site or from reliance on anything on it. A suggested number is a calculation on the numbers already in your catalogue and the scheme you chose.
